Three people are facing numerous criminal charges related to a search and seizure of drugs in Clarence-Rockland.
Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by the Provincial Weapons Enforcement Unit (PWEU), the Tactical Response Unit (TRU), the Canine Unit and officers from the Russell County OPP performed the search following an investigation.
On March 12, CSCU officers arrested two individuals in Ottawa. The third individual was arrested on March 13 in Clarence-Rockland and a search warrant was executed. During the search, the following was seized:
- 78 Oxycodone pills
- 2 Dilaudid pills
- 1.3 ounces of crack
- 0.7 ounces of cocaine
- $1,450 in Canadian currency
- 6 cell phones
- Scales
- A knife
- Break-in tools
- 2 balaclavas
- Gloves
As a result, a 24-year-old Clarence-Rockland resident was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) and the Control Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opioid CDSA 4(1) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid CDSA 5(2)
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine CDSA 5(2)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
- Possession Break-in Instruments CC 351(1)
An 18-year-old Ottawa resident was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opioid CDSA 4(1)
- Traffick in a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine CDSA 5(1) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine CDSA 5(2) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid CDSA 5(2)
A 17-year-old Ottawa resident was charged with:
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine CDSA 4(1) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opioid CDSA 4(1)
- Traffick in a Schedule 1 Substance – Cocaine CDSA 5(1) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine CDSA 5(2) X2
- Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid CDSA 5(2)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
The accused are to appear in court in L’Orignal at a later date.
