There are now three more official department heads on the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) administration.

On Wednesday, February 28, UCPR council approved giving Chief of Staff Olivier Berthiaume and Clerk Mélissa Cadieux full status as directors of departments.

Marc-André Drouin, who has already been employed with the UCPR involving information technology, has been designated as the Director of Information Technology.

Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Stéphane Parisien said the changes were made because of the additional responsibilities the three staff members have acquired. Promotion of economic development and tourism have been added to Berthiaume’s responsibilities, which already included communications activities and other management activities for the UCPR. Parisien said Cadieux has recently taken on the extra role of overseeing larger Provincial Offences court cases. The Ministry of the Attorney General previously managed those cases but the administration of them has been transferred to regional governments. Parisien said there was a Director of Information Technology Position within the UCPR several years ago but it was discontinued in favour of having staff fulfill their roles and report to the CAO. He said that information technology responsibilities within the UCPR have expanded significantly and returning to having a director oversee the department was necessary.

The salaries for the three new UCPR department heads will be adjusted to levels in line with directors.
