Until March 8, Lachute residents can vote for projects in the city’s 2024 participatory budget.

This year’s projects, following the theme of sustainable development, are divided into two distinct categories, a youth component for ages 12 to 17, and an adult component for ages 18 and older.

In the youth component, the two possible projects are reading cabins at Parc de l’Hôtel de ville and an obstacle course in the woods on the grounds of École polyvalente Lavigne.

The two possible projects in the adult component are a community refrigerator at the fire station or at Parc de l’Hôtel de ville where extra food may be left for others in the community to use, or a floating garden in the fountain at Parc de l’Hôtel de ville.

Residents are invited to discover and vote for their two favourite projects via the website aucoeurdelachute.ca. The winning projects from the vote will be revealed on March 15.

The budget allocated for each component is $16,000, for a total of $32,000.

“This year again, the population submitted several varied and innovative projects. I thank all those who shared their ideas with us in order to imagine and realize the future of our city. We are proud to present four beautiful winning projects resulting from proposals from citizens. I invite the population to vote in large numbers for their favorite projects on the site aucoeurdelachute.ca,” Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis said.
