To end her month-long exhibition titled INFINIGRIS at the Arbor Gallery, artist Christine Lenoir Godin will give a talk about her approach to art and the techniques she uses, on Sunday October 29th between 1 and 3 pm.

Godin uses a wide range of media, including graphite, charcoal, inks, watercolours, pastels, mixed media and acrylics. She describes her artistic inspiration as “I seek to walk between heaven and earth where lines melt and softly guide one to the Zen contemplation of void, in quiet grey.”

Godin has painted for 60 years and identifies her style as impressionist/abstract. Those attending her talk will be encouraged to ask questions and interact with her.

A busy November

Next month at the gallery kicks off with a free family magic show on Saturday November 4th at 10 am. Magician Steve Warburton, who wowed young participants last spring at the gallery, will present a new bag of magic tricks. Young children must be accompanied by an adult and reservations are recommended as space is limited. You can reserve at the gallery, by email at [email protected] or by calling (613) 518-2787. The hour-long show is free, thanks to a generous grant from Champlain Township.

Saturday November 4th is also the date for the vernissages of two new art exhibitions at the Arbor Gallery. In the large exhibition hall, Susie Fairbrother presents paintings titled Walking in My Yesterdays, while Lauren Michelle Levesque will host a photographic display called Attune in the smaller gallery. A joint vernissage will take place between 1 and 3pm and both shows run until November 26th.

This year again, Arbor Gallery will be part of Vankleek Hill’s Christmas Porch Tour on Saturday November 18th, between 10 am and 4 pm. Come in to warm up with a hot chocolate and to search for Frost the gnome. Speaking of Christmas, the gallery will be home to Christmas pop-up shops on almost every weekend until December 17th, starting on November 11th with pop-ups by ceramist Noëlline Marineau and fused glass artist Manon Sauvé.

Arbor Gallery is open Wednesday to Sunday, noon to 4pm. Admission to exhibits is always free.  It is located at 36 Home Avenue, in the heart of Vankleek Hill.
