Heavy snow is expected to begin Thursday evening (December 15) and extend through Friday (December 16) in Prescott and Russell and Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry.

Environment Canada is forecasting heavy snow to begin Thursday night, with total snowfall amounts of 15 to 25 centimetres by Saturday morning.

Hazardous travel conditions due to heavy snow and reduced visibility – particularly late Thursday night through Friday – are expected. Environment Canada is advising motorists to consider postponing non-essential travel until conditions improve.

The cause of the snowstorm is a strong low-pressure system expected to affect southern Ontario later this week. Snow is expected to begin over Eastern Ontario Thursday evening and become heavy at times late Thursday night into Friday. Snow will gradually taper to flurries Friday night.
