Members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious person complaint on Dollard Street in Embrun, which led to the arrest of three individuals.

Officers from Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment, Hawkesbury Detachment, the East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and the Forensic Identification Services (FIS) assisted with the incident that occurred on October 15, 2022, at approximately 2:15 a.m.

During the investigation, the officers intercepted a stolen vehicle and the suspects fled from police in another vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, the officers seized two vehicles and three individuals were charged:

A 20-year-old, from Montreal, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle CC 333.1
  • Possessing Automobile Master Key CC 353(1)(b)
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence CC 465(1)(c)
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court CC 145(5)(a)

A 21-year-old male, from Montreal, Quebec was charged with:

  • Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence CC 465(1)(c)
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court CC 145(5)(a) (six counts)
  • Possessing Automobile Master Key CC 353(1)(b)

A 19-year-old male, from Montreal, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Theft of Motor Vehicle CC 333.1
  • Possession Property obtained by Crime Over $5,000 CC 355(a)
  • Conspiracy to commit indictable offence CC 465(1)(c)
  • Possessing Automobile Master Key CC 353(1)(b)

All three accused were held for bail.
