Impaired charge in Embrun

During the period of June 27 to July 3,  officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to more than 530 calls for service. These included:

On June 30, shortly before 4:15 p.m., Russell County OPP officers were on patrol on Notre-Dame Street in Embrun. A driver was stopped for a traffic related offence.

During the investigation, the officers utilized an Approved Screening device (ASD). The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

A 49-year-old male from Russell was charged under the Criminal Code (CC) with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)

Hawkesbury man charged

On July 1, shortly before 2:30 a.m., a Russell County OPP officer was conducting radar enforcement on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland, where an Ontario driver was stopped.

During the investigation, the driver was transported to detachment for further testing.

An 18-year-old male from Hawkesbury, was charged under the CC and Highway traffic Act (HTA) with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Drive motor vehicle – Perform stunt HTA 172(1)

Impaired in Clarence-Rockland

On July 2, shortly after 1 a.m., a Russell County OPP officer stopped a driver for a traffic related offence on County Road 17 in the City of Clarence-Rockland.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

A 64-year-old male from Clarence-Creek, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Possession of over 30g dried cannabis (or equivalent) in a public place CA 8(1)(a)
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit HTA 7(1)(a)
  • Drive without proper rear light – motorcycle HTA 62(2)

Casselman stop leads to impaired charges

On July 2, shortly before 8:45 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint on St-Albert Road in Casselman, where an Ontario driver was stopped.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

A 29-year-old male from St-Albert, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)

Limoges driver charged

On July 3, shortly before 10:45 p.m., a Russell County OPP officer was on patrol on Route 300 in Russell Township, where an Ontario driver was stopped.

During the investigation, the officer utilized an ASD. The driver was arrested and transported to detachment for further testing.

A 43-year-old male from Limoges, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) CC 320.14(1)(b)

All of the motorists received a 90 day driver’s license suspension and the vehicles were also impounded for seven days. The accused are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
