Construction has started on the first hotel in Lachute to be part of a major chain.

Developer Activar Hôtels has broken ground the new Microtel Inn and Suites by Wyndham on avenue Béthany Square in the southern part of town, next to the Couche-Tard store and gas station. The new hotel is planned for January 2023. The new structure will have 72 rooms, a gym, meeting, room, and will offer continental breakfast.

Multiple financial partners have come together to invest the $11.5 million needed to make the project happen. Activar Hôtels has brought together eight local investors, supported by Roynat Capital and Investissement Québec. Argenteuil–La Petite-Nation Member of Parliament has also announced a $1 million loan for the project from the federal agency Canada Economic Development for Québec Regions (CED).

Activar Hôtels also owns and operates the Microtel Inn and Suites in Casselman, Ontario.

“The decision to invest in Lachute is an easy one to make. It’s a market that we know inside out. Our formula works well in Casselman, and we are able to draw parallels between these two markets. In addition, the hotel is located in a prime position bordering Highway 50.”

The Microtel Inn project has been in the works for over three years now and met challenges during that time due to the pandemic.

In addition to Microtel Inn and Suites, hotels part of the Wyndham chain include Days Inn, Super 8, Howard Johnson, Travelodge, Ramada, and La Quinta.
