Indigo Hill Dye Studio in Vankleek Hill is celebrating Local Yarn Store Day on Saturday, April 30, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The day was created by the National Needlearts Association to celebrate independent yarn shops and to recognize their importance to local communities.
Andrea Belcham, owner of Indigo Hill at 26 Main Street, has organized a meet-the-maker event with local basket artisan Cherished Goods, who will be bringing new creations for the shop. These cord baskets are hand-dyed.
A craft-in, in which the public is invited to bring along a fibre craft project to work on in the company of other makers – be it knitting, crocheting, embroidering, etc. will also take place.
There will also be a launch of several product lines– including supplies for crafters as well as staionery and giftware.
The store will serve coffee and tea throughout the day and there will be a draw as purchasers’ names will be entered into the draw.
