A traffic stop turned into a police chase in Brownsburg-Chatham on the morning of Wednesday, February 9. 

At around 10:45 a.m. Sûreté du Québec police officers intercepted a vehicle for a Highway Safety Code check on Route du Canton (Route 148), in Brownsburg-Chatham. While the officers were carrying out check, the driver restarted the vehicle and drove off quickly. The pursuit began in Browsburg-Chatham and continued east on rue Principale into Lachute. The suspect lost control of the vehicle at the intersection of Route 327 and rue de la Côte Sinclair. The suspect then fled on foot before being quickly caught by the police. The vehicle had been reported stolen in Ontario and the suspect was under a ban from driving.   

The 29-year-old man, from Lachute, remained detained following his arrest and was scheduled to appear in court in Saint-Jérôme on Thursday, February 10 to face possible charges of absconding, dangerous driving, driving while prohibited, concealment and breach of condition.
