During the week of January 17 to January 23, officers with the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to more than 260 calls for service. These included:

Assault in Rockland

On January 17, 2022, at approximately 9 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a disturbance on Laurier Street in Rockland.

During the investigation, it was determined that a physical altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old male, from Rockland, was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon CC 267(a) and
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm CC 264.1(1)(a)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Domestic disturbance in Clarence Creek

On January 23, shortly after 6:30 p.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a domestic disturbance on Pilon Road in Clarence-Creek.

During the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between two adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 62-year-old, from St-Pascal-Baylon, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Assault – Spousal CC 266 (two counts);
  • Mischief – Domestic CC 430(4) (two counts) and
  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm – Spousal CC 264.1(1)(a) (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.

Harassment charge

On January 18, shortly after 11:45 a.m., Russell County OPP officers responded to a harassment complaint on Principale Street in Casselman.

During the investigation, it was determined that an altercation occurred between three adults.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old male, from Ottawa, was charged with:

  • Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm CC 264.1(1)(a) (two counts) and
  • Criminal Harassment – Threatening conduct CC 264(2)(d) (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal at a later date.
