Grenville-sur-la-Rouge continues to pressure the federal government for transparency on the cleanup of a farm where Chronic Wasting Disease was found in domestic deer in 2018.
At its December 14, 2021, meeting, council discussed plans to request that Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency enter discussions with the municipality about the cleanup of the Harpur Farm site.
Mayor Tom Arnold has repeatedly criticized the two federal agencies for a lack of transparency and information on the remediation process and how it has been carried out.
The municipality wants the federal ministers of Health and Agriculture to collaborate on an acceptable solution.
