The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) continues to cooperate with municipal police services across Quebec to keep impaired drivers off the roads this holiday season.

MRC Rivière-du-Nord SQ officers and officers from the Service de Police de la ville du St-Jérôme carried out roadside checks on December 10 on Route 117 and Route 158.

Nearly 800 drivers were checked, one person had to take a detection test, one person had to take a movement coordination test, and one person was arrested for driving while impaired by alcohol, drugs or a combination of the two. One offence was also issued to a driver who had not paid to renew their driver’s licence.

The Sûreté du Québec points out that impaired driving due to alcohol and/or drugs remains one of the main causes of fatal collisions in Québec.

Intensified police operations against impaired driving across will continue across Québec until January 3, 2022.
