Community members have answered the Arbor Gallery’s call to contribute a cherished artwork for the holiday season Coup de Coeur exhibition.
“We wanted to make people realize that art goes beyond the work of professional artists or artisans,” explains Sylvie Bouchard, from the Arbor Gallery. “Art evokes emotion, holds memories. It is that deeper meaning that makes a piece precious.”
Artworks in the exhibit range from high-end items by sell-known artists to children’s drawings, old and new. Paintings coexist with handmade dolls and sculptures, Christmas decorations and photographs. And fittingly, in this eclectic show, a stunning steampunk angel completes it all. Each item is accompanied by a short text that tells the story of the special meaning behind it.
“Visitors are touched by both the artworks and the stories,” Bouchard says, “Art is very much about emotions.”
Coup de Coeur runs until December 18.
