After a week off from competitive play, the Vankleek Hill Cougars will be back on the ice this Saturday evening, November 13, at the Vankleek Hill Arena to face the Metcalfe Jets in a 7:30 start.

The Cougars, who sit in sixth place in the National Capital Junior Hockey League (NCJHL) standings with a record of three wins and six losses, will be looking to take advantage of a struggling Metcalfe squad that has yet to win a game this season.

Vankleek Hill will face a much tougher test on Sunday, November 14, when the team visits the Eagles at the St-Isidore Arena. The 5-4-1 Eagles sit in third place in the NCJHL standings and the Cougars can move within three points of St-Isidore with a win.

The players and coaches of the Vankleek Hill Junior C hockey club got in not only some beneficial practice time during their week off, the Cougars were also able to get in some team bonding, during a bowling tournament held during the break. Coaches and players gathered at the Olympia Bowling facility in Hawkesbury on Saturday, November 6, for some fun and laughs.

While the time off was beneficial, everyone is chomping at the bit to start playing games again.

“It was a fun day,” said Cougars Head Coach Franky Dopelhamer of the bowling tournament. “(We’re) ready to get back to business this weekend.”
