Officers with the Stormont-Dundas and Glengarry (SDG) detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking help from the public for information on an act of vandalism to the cenotaph in Alexandria on August 19.

During the act, a person or persons unknown spray painted several words on the monument, including the phrase “as the sea dies we die”.

OPP East Region posted the following description of a suspect on its Twitter feed on August 25:

“Update #1 – Info has come in regrading a person of interest: white male seen on Main Street South around the time, white t-shirt with words “as the sea dies we die”. Approximately  50-55 yrs old, 6ft, heavy set, wearing blue jeans and carrying 2 bags.”
