The best Holstein cattle will be on show in Vankleek Hill on August 20. The Prescott County Holstein Show is back.
Normally, the show is part of the annual Vankleek Hill Fair, but since the fair is not taking place this year due to COVID-19 restrictions, the Prescott County Holstein Club has decided to go ahead with a small-scale show at the fairgrounds.
“It’s happening this year,” said the club’s Amanda Cowan.
A maximum of 100 people will be allowed on the site, so spectators and sponsors will not be able to attend.
The club has been in discussion with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit to ensure all public health COVID-19 safety regulations are followed. Cowan is hoping the COVID-19 situation remains good so the show can go ahead under Ontario’s existing Step Three regulations.
Registration for all 15 classes begins during the second week of August through the online portal at https://ontario.holstein.ca/shows/east-shows/ . Registration is also available at that site for Holstein shows taking place at seven other locations across Eastern Ontario this year, including Williamstown for Glengarry County and Metcalfe for Russell and Carleton counties.
Cowan said plans are being made to hopefully livestream this year’s Prescott County Holstein Show from Vankleek Hill so spectators who normally would attend in person, can watch from home.
