The Town of Hawkesbury is advising the public that the Robert-Hartley Sports Complex remains closed until further notice.

In a press release, the town said it took advantage of the downtime imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic to do some major work on the complex’s swimming pool, including repainting and replacing the filters. The swimming pool is normally closed in August for maintenance.

The release said the Town of Hawkesbury has not yet set a reopening date for the sports complex and expects to announce one in the next few weeks.

The multi-sports room of the Robert Harley complex continues to be used by the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) for vaccination clinics during the pandemic.

“We will continue to support this action for as long as necessary, for the good of the whole population,” the press release said. “Some work will also be necessary at the end of these clinics to restore the room.”

Outdoor activities are open and permitted according to current health recommendations, including the O’Shack nautical rental centre on the Ottawa River near the Long Sault Bridge. The O’Shack centre is currently open Wednesday to Sunday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
