Glengarry Animal Hospital in Alexandria is moving to a new, larger location.

The existing facility is located at 347 Main Street and construction has started at the new site at 468 West Boundary Road.

The Glengarry Animal Hospital is owned and operated as a partnership with the Hawkesbury Animal Hospital. On July 9, partners and staff gathered at the construction site in Alexandria for an official ground-breaking to celebrate the construction of the new animal hospital.

Veterinarian Dr. Emma Salkeld is one of the partners who own the Glengarry and Hawkesbury animal hospitals. She said they are running out of room at the existing space in Alexandria.

“We’re outgrowing it. It’s a very small space.”

Glengarry Animal Hospital exclusively treats small animals, primarily dogs and cats.

Not only is the new animal hospital intended to better serve clients, it is also intended to create a more comfortable work environment. Architect Marie-Eve Allard of Planimal, a firm which exclusively designs veterinary facilities, said veterinarians and veterinary technicians want to work in facilities that are spacious and modern.

Glengarry Animal Hospital is planning to move to its new 6,000 square-foot location in June 2022.
