Sentencing for the former Clerk-Treasurer of East Hawkesbury Township is expected in August.

On November 27, 2020, Linda Rozon pleaded guilty in court to two counts of fraud and breach of trust. In 2017, auditors found $53,000 missing from the municipal treasury. A further audit found $307,094 had been diverted from the township during a period believed to be between January 1, 2008 and December 31, 2017.

According to Chief Administrative Officer Luc Lalonde, Rozon’s sentencing is expected to take place in August.

Both Lalonde and Mayor Robert Kirby said the township has had no more contact with Rozon’s case since it received an insurance payout of $504,409 to compensate for the lost funds.
