Private security for parking enforcement is back again this year along chemin de la Rivière Rouge and other nearby roads.
On May 11, Grenville-sur-la-Rouge council approved the selection of Production Securité to provide the service. According to Mayor Tom Arnold, the municipality decided to select a different company for 2021. Garda had been the service provider for the past three years.
Illegal parking on municipal property has been a recurring problem along roads by Rivière Rouge for several years. Visitors park to access the natural sand beaches and rapids. They often set up unofficial campsites on both public and private property.
The security guards have the authority to issue parking fines. On the recent May 24 weekend, several vehicles were seen parked along chemin de la Rivière Rouge.
The summer 2021 issue of CAA Québec magazine names Rivière Rouge as one of the five most scenic bodies of water in Québec for paddle-boarding.
