At around 2 a.m. on March 22, police officers from the Sûreté du Québec, MRC d’Argenteuil branch stopped a vehicle for speeding on rue des Érables in Brownsburg-Chatham. The suspect was traveling at 157 kilometres per hour in a 50-kilometre- per-hour zone. Police arrested the driver, who was later released on a summons to appear in court at a later date in Saint-Jérôme, where he could face dangerous driving charges.

The driver, a 33-year-old Lachute resident, was fined $1,913 and was penalized with 24 demerit points for excessive speeding. The person’s driver’s license was suspended for a period of seven days. The suspect could also face narcotics charges as police seized methamphetamine pills during the intervention.
