At approximately 7 p.m. on January 15, MRC d’Argenteuil Sûreté du Québec officers a call about a break-in in progress on rue Principale in Lachute.

At the scene, the police observed footprints heading towards a garage door.

As soon as the officers walked through the door, they noticed a man trying to hide and severed electrical wires on the floor.

The suspect, a 48-year-old man from Lachute, was arrested and taken to the police station but subsequently released on promise to appear.

He is due to return to court at a later date, at the Saint-Jérôme courthouse.  The suspect could face charges of break and enter, possession of burglary tools and breach of condition.
