Autoroute 50 remained closed in the eastern part of Grenville-sur-la-Rouge during the afternoon of Monday, December 28 while Sûreté du Québec (SQ) officers investigated a fatal collision that took place that morning.

According to the SQ, at approximately 9 a.m., a propane truck collided head-on with a car at kilometre post 242, which is between the Route 344 (chemin Scotch) Grenville exit and the Brownsburg-Chatham (Montée la Branche) exit.  The driver of the car, a 38-year-old Lachute man, was ejected from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was taken to hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries.

The SQ continues to investigate the cause of the collision.
