Tim Hortons® restaurant owners and millions of generous Canadians across the country combined broke a new Smile Cookie record by raising $10.56 million for local charities across the country. This was the campaign’s 24th year, and supported various charities, including the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital (HGH) Foundation – one of 550 Canadian charities, hospitals and community programs supported through the annual campaign.

For one week, from September 14 to 20, restaurant owners donated the full $1 from every freshly-baked chocolate chunk Smile Cookie purchased to support charities in their community. Local Tim Hortons restaurant owner Paul Burke donated the funds from the Smile Cookies sold in Hawkesbury and L’Orignal to the HGH Foundation. The total raised was $12,073!

“Our restaurant team members and I were happy to support, once again this year, the Hawkesbury and District General Hospital Foundation. Supporting their current fundraising priorities has always been so important to us, especially during these challenging times. Thank you to all of our guests for their support throughout our annual Smile Cookie week,” said Burke.

“The HGH Foundation is so grateful to be the recipient of the funds from the local Smile Cookie campaign. What a great initiative and gesture from Tim Hortons, and Tim Hortons owners and team members! Mr. Burke and our local Tim Hortons restaurants’ team members have been supporting the HGH Foundation for 10 years and have raised over $51,000 so far for the Foundation through their annual Smile Cookie campaigns. Their continued support is greatly appreciated! They truly make a big difference for their regional hospital, its patients, their families, and the entire community. We also want to thank all those who purchased a Smile Cookie. You have helped support new programs at HGH that will benefit you and your loved ones,” said Christine Gray St-Denis, Philanthropic Projects Coordinator, HGH Foundation.

This gift will be directed toward the HGH Foundation’s new campaign: There’s No Place Like Home. This campaign will support new programs and continue to help expand services at HGH, including enhancing services in orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology and advanced mammography. It will make the most of the recent redevelopment and expansion at HGH, and will enable access to more specialty care, closer to home.
