On August 22, 2020, shortly after 5:00 p.m., members of the Russell County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a request to assist Ottawa Police in locating a distraught male.
As part of the search, OPP officers attended a marina in Clarence-Rockland. As they arrived, officers observed the 71-year old male in the Ottawa River. An officer entered the river in an attempt to rescue the male, but was unable to locate him. The Ottawa Fire Service Marine Unit attended the scene, but was also unable to locate the male.
The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will attend the area on August 23, 2020.
