A major restoration project will soon occur at a landmark church in Brownsburg-Chatham.

The Member of the Québec National Assembly for Argenteuil, Agnès Grondin, announced on Monday that the Québec government is granting $ 68,083 for the restoration of the Saint-Philippe church.

The work will consist mainly of the restoration and replacement of eight glazed window units on the east side of the building, for patching window surfaces, as well than the installation of a fire detection system. The total cost of the work is estimated at $ 97,262.

The amount granted is part of the total envelope of $ 15 million of the Québec government’s program for the protection, transmission, and presentation of religious cultural heritage. The program allows for financing of up to 80% of the costs of projects that have previously been approved by the Québec Religious Heritage Council.
