The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment is investigating a serious three vehicle collision that took place on County Road-17 in Alfred-Plantagenet Township on Wednesday, June 17.

At approximately 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, the OPP officers, the Alfred-Plantagenet Fire Department and Prescott-Russell Paramedics were called to the scene, east of Wendover. The initial investigation found that a westbound passenger vehicle and eastbound transport truck collided in the eastbound lane. The transport collided with a second passenger vehicle before rolling over in the ditch.

The driver of the initial passenger vehicle, a 70-year old woman from Alfred-Plantagenet Township, was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other drivers suffered minor injuries.

The highway was closed for more than nine hours, while an OPP Collision Reconstructionist, OPP Technical Collison Investigators and other officers conducted the investigation and the vehicles were removed.
