Sprinkler evacuates retirement residence in Lachute

The Medallion d’or retirement residence on Thomas Street in Lachute was evacuated on Thursday evening and the Lachute fire department arrived at the scene.  Fortunately, there was no fire. According to Lachute Fire Chief Alain St-Jacques, a fire sprinkler head was accidentally set off, causing the fire alarm to sound, leading to the evacuation of the building. The residents waited safely outside until the alarm system had been shut off.
