The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized illegal drugs from a home in Hawkesbury.

On May 8, 2020, members of the Street Crime Unit, assisted by members of the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment and the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a search warrant at a home on Gladstone Street.

Police seized a quantity of suspected cocaine as well as pellet gun, Canadian currency, cell phones and other items associated with drug trafficking.

A 49-year-old Hawkesbury man has been charged with:

  • Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose – Criminal Code (CC) – sec. 88
  • Fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking – CC sec. 145(5.1)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) sec. 5(2)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on September 9, 2020.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges are anticipated.
