Firefighters from three departments responded to a small forest fire in Grenville-sur-la-Rouge on Thursday evening.
The fire began at approximately 6 p.m. at the top of a steep hill next to Route 148, across from the Centre Notre-Dame-de-la-Rouge camp.
In addition to firefighters from Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, crews from Grenville village and Harrington also responded. The fire was out by about 7 p.m.
Fire vehicles could not drive up the rough and narrow dirt laneway to the top of the hill. Firefighters had to run hoses up the hill from pumper trucks parked by the highway while additional water was trucked in from a fire hydrant in Calumet.
