The Glengarry Highlanders Peewee team won gold at its home tournament recently.
The Peewee team faced off against Ottawa in game one where an eager Glengarry team skated to a 4-0 win. The game’s opening goal came from Jada Campbell, followed by a late first period goal by Madison MacLeod. The second period saw Jada Campbell put another in the net while the scoring was rounded out by Mary Ellen Fader. Madelyne Duval registered a shutout.
In game 2 versus the Westlake Wild proved to be much the same. While the game stayed locked at zero in the first period, Campbell picked up her first goal of the game in the second. The third period brought her another goal followed by a third for Madison MacLeod. Duval once again registered a shutout.
Sunday morning brought on an undefeated Gloucester Sharks while the Highlanders were able to fend them off until late in the second period. Two back-to-back goals by the sharks took the air out of the Highlanders. A penalty shot in the third sealed the game for the Sharks as they took a 3-0 win.
