Inappropriate Instagram posts at Le Sommet under investigation

School administration and Conseil des écoles publiques de l’est de l’Ontario school board officials continue to investigate an incident involving racist and sexually inappropriate Instagram posts by students at a Hawkesbury high school.

The Instagram posts, which were discovered on Monday, February 10 targeted teachers at École secondaire publique Le Sommet.  The Instagram account had 300 followers, according to Principal Anne Laflamme.

The offensive posts have been removed and the account was shut down.  Laflamme could not confirm how many students were involved because the investigation is ongoing.  She said police were contacted but no charges were laid.

Hawkesbury OPP Constable Mario Gratton said two students were spoken to by a police officer regarding the incident but responsibility for the situation as of Friday, February 14 remained with the school administration.
