ESCRH composting initiative

École Secondaire Catholique Régional de Hawkesbury (ESCRH) has started a new composting and gardening initiative.

In 2017, the school’s Club Franvert, which is its environmental club, started a composting program in addition to its recycling program. ESCRH was chosen by the school board to try this pilot project. It works just like any composting; all waste that is compostable is composted. Once it has been composted, it is used in the school vegetable garden.

The school provides all the harvested vegetables to the cooking class. This is part of the Club Franvert’s initiative to reduce waste in the school and raise awareness about taking care of our environment.
