On Friday, April 26, the SDG Library celebrated the more than 60 volunteers who dedicate their time to provide support to the library throughout the year.

A small group of volunteers attended the third annual Volunteer Appreciation Event held at the Avonmore Branch. Karen Franklin, the Director of Library Services, along with other library staff and members of the SDG Library Board, recognized each volunteer by presenting them with a special thank-you gift. During the event, participants enjoyed refreshments, prizes and took part in the first ever SDG Library Olympics.

“Our volunteers are extremely valuable to us,” said Susan Wallwork, Communications & Marketing Librarian. “It is important to recognize how much we appreciate the help they provide us.”

Library volunteers undertake a variety of activities to support library staff, and tasks are matched to meet the interests of the individual. Volunteers opportunities may take place at library branches, the administration office, and at events in the community.
