Two people have been arrested in the Township of Russell; drugs and weapons were seized.

On February 13, 2019, members of the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau – Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Search Warrant in the Township of Russell with the assistance of the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU).

Investigators seized four firearms, ammunition, and a small quantity of Percocet (oxycodone) and Hydromorphone pills from the residence.

A 26-year-old Russell woman was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a substance in Schedule 1 (Percocet) C.D.S.A. Section 4(1)
  • Possession of a substance in Schedule 1 (Hydromorphone) C.D.S.A Section 4(1)
  • Four counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – CC 91(1)
  • Four counts of Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition – CC 86(1)

A 25-year-old Russell man was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a substance in Schedule 1 (Percocet) C.D.S.A. Section 4(1)
  • Possession of a substance in Schedule 1 (Hydromorphone) C.D.S.A Section 4(1)
  • Four counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm – CC 91(1)
  • Four counts of Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition – CC 86(1)

Both accused were released on a Promise to Appear and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on March 6, 2019.
