To The Editor,

This letter is a follow-up to Ms. Patricia Campbell’s letter dated April 25 and published on The Review website last week. The Prescott and Russell Residence, a long-term care facility operated by the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, wishes to clarify certain facts regarding the claims reported in the aforementioned letter.

The Residence Administrator and Director of Care both spoke with Ms. Campbell on April 30. During that call, the Residence clarified and confirmed that the reported events occurred in 2013 – and not in 2014, as was indicated in the said letter. Secondly, upon verification of the events recorded in the individual’s file, the Residence confirmed that the facility and its staff acted professionally, diligently, and in accordance with the standards of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care.

Patient care and services were provided in complete safety and security during the individual’s stay. Furthermore, no complaints or dissatisfaction were reported to any member of the management or any employee of the Prescott and Russell Residence in 2013 – or at any time, prior to the publication of said letter in your newspaper. Ms. Campbell confirmed this during the telephone conversation earlier this week.

The Prescott and Russell Residence is proud of the care and support that it provides to residents in the community. The facility is inspected regularly by Ministry officials to make sure that it operates according to the strictest patient-care standards. The announcement earlier this week by Premier Kathleen Wynne and Minister Marie-France Lalonde, approving an additional 78 beds for our facility by 2022, would not have been possible unless the Residence continually adhered to such standards. We look forward to continuing to serve the community as we prepare for the reconstruction of our new Residence.

Louise Lalonde, Administrator,
Prescott & Russell Residence
