On Saturday January 27, local snowmobilers and winter motor sports fans gathered for the second year at Lake George located between Lefaivre and Treadwell to attend to the seventh annual snowmobile drag races. Just under 125 competitors, some coming from as far as New York State, battled on the 660 feet distance to see who the fastest one was.

Organizers Jonathan and Sébastien C. Ruest worked hard over the last month to assure that the ice was going to be nice and thick for this year’s event. Last week’s freezing rain gave some last minute work to the promoters, but everything turned out for the best, Saturday’s mild weather being a bonus for the 500 some spectators who came out to enjoy the day.

Every year the event has grown a bit bigger and a bit better: this year a canteen selling beaver tails was on the premises to the delight of everyone!

This seventh annual event came together in part with the help of local businesses: Daniel Ménard, Action Cutting & Coring Inc.; Nadia, Cynthia and Fanny Sauvé, Beauty Girlz; Carrière & Poirier Equipment; Yvan Séguin, Garage Séguin (Alfred) and Stéphane Paquette, SP Mastertech Garage (Casselman).
