Several local re-enactors are planning an information day on how to take part at living history re-enactments such as the local Dunvegan War of 1812 Re-enactment in Dunvegan, Ontario.

Have you often wondered what it might have been like to actually live in the past? Can you picture yourself wearing clothes that went out of style over 200 years ago? Are you a local history buff? If you wholeheartedly said yes, then you would benefit from an afternoon presentation on Saturday January 20, 2018 at the Dunvegan Recreation Association Hall from 2 to 4 p.m.

Join re-enactors from four affiliated Living History groups that portray the daily life of the militia, infantry, cavalry and many aspects of the civilian life. They will share with you their stories and steps on how to get involved in the hobby. Bring your pad and paper and lots of questions.

Jim Mullin from the Glengarry Light Infantry Fencibles is looking for new members, just as the regiment did in this area over 200 years ago. “Short of actually traveling back in time, however, there is no better way to learn about history than by living it first-hand as a reenactor”, says Jim.

The Dunvegan Recreation Hall is located at 19053 County Rd 24, Dunvegan, ON K0C 1J0. Free to everyone. For more information, please e-mail Jim at [email protected]
