The City of Lachute has added a new game module to its playground in Ayers Park.
Designed for children between the ages of five and 12, the module has a variety of a psychomotor blocks with various levels of difficulty, a platform, access by a staircase with ramps, two slips of 1.5 and 2 metres high, a horizontal ladder, and a space to climb. The new facility has a capacity of about 30 children at a time.
The City of Lachute says these components will enable the development of balance, coordination, strength, and agility in children. The new module differs from the other structure already present at Ayers Park, which addresses a younger clientele, namely children aged 18 months to five years.
The project was developed in accordance with the first objective of the Action Plan for Families, Seniors and Healthy Lifestyle, adopted by the City of Lachute in 2016. The City conducted surveys with children in the 2017 day camp to help tailor its approach in creating the new module.
