Gudula Bauer of Food Activated showed market-goers how to make sauerkraut as part of a demonstration at the Vankleek Hill Farmers’ Market on Saturday, October 22. Bauer is a regular vendor at the market, offering a variety of treats and savory items made from nutrient-dense dried foods. She also sells various kinds of sauerkraut, kefir, almond milk, sprouts and dried ingredients to add to smoothies. On Saturday, October 29 at 10:30 a.m., Chef Bruce will be preparing Beau’s Lugtread and Marmite-Seared Breast of Duck with Green Peppercorn sauce. The market is located in the cafetorium at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. There are weekly demonstrations taking place, with Chef Bruce cooking every second week.
