Two local cadet detachments will be hosting open-house events next week. The 57th SD&G Highlanders Army Cadet Corps of Vankleek Hill will be hosting an open house on Wednesday, September 7, from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute (VCI).
On Tuesday, September 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., Air Cadet Squadron 379 will be hosting an open-house at Glengarry District High School, in Alexandria.
It is free to join the cadets, including the cost of uniforms and activities. The program is open to youth between the ages of 12 and 18, who are interested in participating in challenging and rewarding activities, while learning about the sea, army and air activities of the Canadian Armed Forces.
Cadets are encouraged to participate in community, environmental and citizenship activities. They are not members of the Canadian Armed Forces, nor are they expected to join the military.
While you are here, we have a small ask.
More people are reading The Review than ever before — across our many platforms. So far, we have not put up a paywall to limit the stories you can read. We want to keep you in the news loop. But advertising revenues are increasingly going to the big two: you know who they are. If you value The Review’s independent, local community journalism, or you value the many ways we support dozens of community organizations in their endeavours, consider supporting our work. It takes time, effort and professional smarts to stay on top of community news and present well-researched, objective news articles on issues which matter to you.
If you read stories on this website, or you have come here from an Instant Article post on Facebook, think about subscribing. It would be a vote of confidence for the work that we do, and for the future well-being of your community.
