Food trucks will soon roll into Hawkesbury. Well, six of them will anyway.

On Monday, May 13, Hawkesbury council adopted a bylaw which will allow a maximum of six food trucks to obtain licences to operate on specific private and public properties.

Efforts to permit food trucks in Hawkesbury began in 2021 but were not implemented at that time. In May 2023, a resident inquired about allowing them, and in March 2024, Councillor Julie Seguin requested an update on the process.

Food trucks in Hawkesbury will only be permitted on commercial properties with the CC, CH, CL, and CR zoning designations, and will still require individual approval by council. Food trucks on municipal property will require the authorization of the Director of Recreation and Tourism through the issuance of a Special Event Permit in addition to a Refreshment Vehicle Business Licence.
