The Town of Brownsburg-Chatham has opened a collective kitchen offering a series of culinary workshops and tastings led by a professional chef as well as chefs of different nationalities. The name of the program is the Transfo et Cuistot project.

The first workshop had a Mexican theme and used fresh products from the Argenteuil community agriculture garden, located on Montée Robert in Brownsburg-Chatham.

The workshops will be less frequent during the summer period, but starting in September, they will take place twice a month, in the Harbourmaster’s Room located at the Brownsburg-Chatham Marina at 455, route des Outaouais/Route 344. These workshops will offer a variety of culinary themes, ranging from traditional cuisine to explorations of international flavors presented by a qualified trainer and chef as well as guest chefs from different countries. At each event, participants will have the opportunity to contribute to the preparation of one or more dishes which they can then enjoy on site and/or take away with them.

“I am delighted to see the birth of this new collective kitchen project in Brownsburg-Chatham which fits perfectly with our family and seniors’ policy, while supporting our vision of waste reduction, particularly through the fight against food waste. It is a project that is both unifying, fun and educational and I hope that many of you will take advantage of this opportunity for culinary discoveries,” Mayor Kévin Maurice said.

Participants must register with the municipal Leisure and Culture Department. The cost to register is $5, which covers part of the costs and helps ensure the sustainability of the collective kitchen.
