There are new rules about food trucks in Lachute.

On Monday, June 3, Lachute council adopted a regulation which only allows food trucks on municipal property at events and festivals. Approval of food trucks at each event or festival will still require the approval of council. Food truck operators will have to pay a fee of $250 for a permit to operate at each public event. No permits are required for food trucks on private property or for events held by not-for-profit organizations.

No speeding in these neighborhoods

The speed limit will soon decrease on 11 residential, municipal streets in Lachute.

On Monday, June 3, a notice of motion and regulation was introduced to Lachute council which, when eventually adopted will set the speed limit on Claire de lune, Emilien, Franciscans, Georgette-Laurin, Jean-Paul Riopel, Le quartier Jones, Louise Kirouac, Marc-Aurele Fortin, St-Croix, and Tex Lecor streets at 40 kilometres per hour. Currently, the speed limit on those streets is 50 kilometres per hour.

Work on Watson

The reconstruction project on rue Watson in Lachute will begin soon. On Monday, June 3, council awarded the construction contract to CTMIR of Mirabel for $1,867,659.45 plus sales taxes. The engineering contract for the rue Watson reconstruction project was awarded to DEC Enviro of St-Sauveur for $24,435 plus sales taxes.
