PILON, GERALD
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Pilon, affectionately nicknamed Gerry, of L’Orignal, serenely passed away at home surrounded by his relatives on Monday, July 17, 2017 at the age of 66. Gerry leaves an empty space around him, especially for his dear wife Suzanne, with whom he has shared the last 38 years. He will be missed by his sons: Benoit Pilon (Lindsay Wilson), Jean-François and Marc-André Bériault (Karine Hébert). His grandchildren: Hazel, Anabelle, Arielle and Nathaniel will always remember the good humor and the smile of their beloved grandfather. He leaves several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces, cousins and many friends who will miss Gerry’s delicious meals as well as opportunities for great encounters, glass of wine in his hand. A passionate man, he particularly appreciated art in all its forms. Teaching is an art and he mastered it brilliantly. He taught several years of high school while sharing his passion for the arts with his students. He loved painting and pottery: his creative side. More than anything else, it was his love for percussion that allowed him to relax and have fun. His drums took a big place in his life. He enjoyed a good game of golf with friends but most of all he was a hockey enthusiast and a great hockey fan. He was a Marc Bergevin # 2… Great trips and small escapades were his way to live a relaxed life. What a joy to leave for nowhere with Suzanne and to end up in a dream destination. He was very involved in his community, especially for the preservation of the French language. He was president of the AEFO (Ontario Francophone Teachers’ Association). His passion for young people in his community led him to the Optimist Club of L’Orignal where he was president. A man of conviction, he is a founding member of the Action Champlain group. As you have all been part of Gerry’s life, the family invites you on Sunday, July 30, 2017 at The Gardens Of Armande, Berthiaume Family Funeral Home Inc., 416 McGill Street, Hawkesbury, ON from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. to share with you the wonderful moments spent with him. The celebration will begin at 3 pm in The Gardens Of Armande outside the funeral home and will be followed by a reception in honor of Gerry.
