NIXON- The family of the late Horace L. Nixon would like to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all those who supported us in our time of grief. Thank you for the visits to the funeral home, for the flowers, prayers, cards, emails, memorial donations, gifts of food and for attendance at the service. Special thanks to Rev. James and Rev. Martin for their guidance and for officiating at the service; to Rosemary Harden and the choir at Knox, and to the Knox Ladies Aid for providing the delicious lunch at the reception. Special thanks to the pallbearers, grandsons, Cory, Travis and Tyson Nixon, Chad Connors, Shane Kirby, Brodie and Ryan MacDuff, Spencer MacKinnon and great-grandson Jacob Wilson, and to the honorary pallbearers John Allen, Glenn Steele, Gerry Overvest, Jeff Linttell, Russell Westgate, Allen Barton, Howard Curran, Bill Allen, Douglas and Ian MacLeod. For the gift of music we extend our thanks to Ian and Karen MacLeod, Ashley MacLeod-McRae and Cassie McDonnell, The Old Time Fiddlers, James Nixon and Spencer MacKinnon. Dad would have been so pleased! Grateful appreciation is extended to Bill Allen for his moving eulogy, Nancy Beerwort for her tribute on behalf of Holstein Canada, and for the family tributes given by Tara Barton-Maclaren on behalf of the grandchildren, and by Dawn MacDuff on behalf of his children. Such an emotional good-bye was made complete with Horace’s antique tractor, driven by grandson Cory leading the breathtaking team of Clydesdale horses driven by Andrew Sangster. Thank you! Special thanks to Mark and Lisa Henderson and the staff of Hillcrest Funeral Home for their professional guidance and going above and beyond to make Dad’s final farewell deserving of the man he was!
