BARTON, Douglas – 1953 – 2018.
Our hearts are full of gratitude as we say thank you to the many family members, friends, neighbours and co-workers for their acts of kindness, love and sympathy in the way of phone calls, visits, cards, food, flowers, generous donations to the MacLaughlin Cemetery and The Ottawa Heart Institute in Doug’s name, and the kind words spoken to our family regarding the sudden passing of a wonderful husband, father and grandfather (Poppa). We want to express special appreciation to Mark, Lisa, Cheryl and Billy of Hillcrest Funeral Home for their guidance, caring and professionalism. Special thanks to friends and family who came from near and far, Vancouver, Winnepeg and Halifax to celebrate Doug’s life with us at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club. Our gratitude for their presence during this difficult time cannot be expressed in words. Love to James Nixon for his support to us and for being there for Doug for many years. Thanks to Richard Redmond of Red Dog Digital for the video memories for the grandchildren; Tim MacRae – A Catered Affair for the food at the club; Herb’s Restaurant for the pizza and poutine at our home; Bruce MacNaughton, Wayne Lee and families for their generous donations of Doug’s favorite drink, cranberry and vodka at the curling club. Doug will always be remembered for his warm smile, that twinkle in his eyes and of course his hair. Doug will be missed forever, but we know that he will live on in the hearts of all who shared their grief with us during this difficult time. You have made an awful time in our lives more bearable.
