DESCRIPTION:Asnowmobile rally is coming to East Hawkesbury!On Saturday\, February 25\, the Antique Day Committee is presenting the Rallye East Hawkesbury Est in Sainte-Anne-de Prescott.The rally starts and finishes at the Centre d’Action community centre. Registration begins at 1 p.m. Participants will follow a route of 10 to 12 kilometres where they will have to slow down and read a series of questions they have to answer.The rally is completely off-track. The committee obtained permission from a private landowner to use their property for the day of the event. That means participants do not need to have trail permits that are required for use on public snowmobile trails.There will also be activities happening back at the Centre d’Action. Bingo will begin at 2 p.m.\, and there will be children’s activities outdoors. DESCRIPTION:Vankleek Hill’s Wee Irish Fest is back for the first time in two years this Sunday\, March 19. \n\n\n\nThe annual festival was last held on March 15 of 2020 – just as the COVID-19 pandemic was beginning. \n\n\n\nThe 2023 edition of the Wee Irish Fest will be held entirely at the Creating Centre in Vankleek Hill\, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. If weather permits\, some of the activities will be held outdoors in the Phil Arbor Memorial Garden. Both the Creating Centre and the garden are located at 11 High Street in Vankleek Hill (corner of Main Street and Highway 34). \n\n\n\nLocal acoustic rock band 50 PROOF will play from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. and will include classic Irish folk tunes with a rock ‘n roll spin in their performance. The Vankleek Hill Old Tyme Fiddlers will take centre stage from 2:30 to 4 p.m. inside the Creating Centre. \n\n\n\nEveryone is welcome and admission is free for the Wee Irish Fest. While it is being held in Vankleek Hill\, the festival will be a party for everyone living in Champlain Township – including pets.

SUMMARY:Workshop about pysanky
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, April 1\, Ukrainian born Maya Chenier will demonstrate and guide participants in a workshop about pysanky – the art of decorating Easter eggs. A student at Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute\, Chenier was encouraged by art teacher Gisele Paquette to teach this traditional wax-resist technique to fellow students\, and to present a workshop at the gallery. \n\n\n\nMargo Chomkulska\, fellow Ukrainian and VCI student\, will join Chenier in showcasing pieces from traditional Ukrainian folk art. Aside from pysanky eggs\, they have prepared pieces of traditional vytynanka\, the art of cutting out intricate designs in paper\, practiced in Ukraine and other Slavic countries. These stunning pieces will be on display in the small hall of the gallery\, during the entire month of April.

DESCRIPTION:The Hawkesbury Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment and ASD United Prescott-Russell will host a special Raise the Flag for Autism event on Sunday\, April 2. \n\n\n\nBeginning at 10 a.m.\, the OPP and ASD United Prescott-Russell will be raising an Autism Awareness flag at Hawkesbury’s Town Hall\, located at 600 Higginson Street in Hawkesbury. The ceremony is one of many taking place in communities throughout the province to support Autism Ontario and World Autism Day on Sunday\, April 2\, and throughout the month of April. \n\n\n\nFrom the town hall\, the group will take a short walk to the Robert Hartley Sports Complex\, where the Hawkesbury OPP detachment will be hosting an EZ child identification program in the 421B Annexe. SUMMARY:VCI Pancake Fundraiser
DESCRIPTION:The school is planning to redesign the library to bring it up to contemporary standards as a learning environment. Costs for the project will include paint\, furniture\, and labour\, so the Library Redesign Committee has decided to hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser. The cost to enjoy a plate of pancakes is by donation\, and there will also be a silent auction of donated items. All proceeds will go to the library redesign project. \n\n\n\nSuperintendents from the Upper Canada District School Board are also expected to attend the event on April 6. \n\n\n\nThe Library Redesign Committee is also looking for sponsorships for the project. Interested businesses and individuals are invited to contact Turner Onion\, the teacher overseeing the redesign committee at turner.onion@ucdsb.on.ca . \n\n\n\nThe pancake breakfast fundraiser takes place at the VCI cafeteria.
