SUMMARY:Town & Country Garden Tour
DESCRIPTION:The self-guided tour offers visitors a chance to walk through eight beautiful gardens. As the name implies\, some of the gardens are within the town of Vankleek Hill and some are at homes in the surrounding countryside. \n\n\n\nWhile garden tours took place a few decades ago in Vankleek Hill\, this event is revived this year by two organizations working together. The St. John’s Anglican Church and the Vankleek Hill and District Horticultural Society are co-hosting the event. \n\n\n\nThe event will take place rain or shine and there will be luncheon offerings in town and other activities\, all in keeping with the gardening theme. On tour day\, ticket-holders can present their ticket to obtain a map for the self-guided tour. \n\n\n\nTickets cost $25 per person. Limited tickets go on sale around May 19\, 2023 in Vankleek Hill at: The Review\, 76 Main Street\, The Broken Kettle\, 54 Main Street\, Vankleek Cottage\, 105 Main Street\, and Jade Garden\, 85 Main Street. To order and pre-pay by phone\, call: 613-678-2820 or 613-677-2364 and pick up your tickets tour day at St. John’s Anglican Church Hall. \n\n\n\nEvent organizers appreciate the support of major sponsors: The Review\, Legault Greenhouses and Low’s Realty. Other community-minded sponsors include: Hillcrest Funeral Home\, Théorêt & Martel Insurance Brokers\, Wylie Property Maintenance\, Scherer Landscaping & Gardening and Vankleek Hill Foodland. \n\n\n\nNote that events for this fundraiser are non-refundable.

SUMMARY:Play - Hamlet
DESCRIPTION:The Glengarry Pioneer Museum is bringing Ottawa’s “A Company of Fools” to Dunvegan to perform one of William Shakespeare’s most popular plays\, Hamlet. \n\n\n\nThis Shakespeare-in-the-park theatre company is known for their colourful\, family-friendly versions of Shakespeare’s work. There will be puppets\, there will be swordfights\, and there might even be a scary ghost! If you cannot remember the story of Hamlet\, that’s no problem. This will be an entertaining 90-minute show to blast you back to your high school English class – with more excitement and theatrical deaths than you likely remember! Whether you are a Shakespeare nerd or this is your first foray with the Bard since high school\, this foolish take on Hamlet has something for everyone. \n\n\n\nAudience members are encouraged to come early – the gates open at 5:30 p.m.\, and bring your favourite lawn chair. Refreshments and homemade desserts will be available for sale. Picnic dinners will also be available by reservation through the museum’s website www.glengarrypioneermuseum.ca. Tour the historic buildings\, check out the museum’s gift shop and enjoy the show!

SUMMARY:LRHS Reunion - Class of '73
DESCRIPTION:It’s been 50 years since the first graduating class to complete all of their secondary grades graduated from Laurentian Regional High School (LRHS) in Lachute\, and efforts are underway to organize a reunion. \n\n\n\nThe reunion is being planned for August 5\, 2023. It will be held at Cabane à Sucre du Coteau in St-André-d’Argenteuil and will begin at 2 p.m. The cost is $50 per person. \n\n\n\nRight now\, the reunion organizers are trying to get as many people interested as possible. Interested graduates can request to join it at https://www.facebook.com/groups/439002531743307 . LRHS class of ’73 graduates can also find out more about the reunion by emailing lrhsclassof73@gmail.com .

SUMMARY:Opening Reception & Meet the Artist: TALES FROM THE COUNTY
DESCRIPTION:Meet artist Crystal Beshara for a vernissage to celebrate the opening of her new solo exhibition: Tales from The County. \nRencontrez l’artiste Crystal Beshara pour une vernissage pour célébrer l’ouverture de sa nouvelle exposition : Tales from The County. \nTALES FROM THE COUNTY:\n( Celebrating Rural life in Prescott & Russell) \n “Tales from the County” pays tribute to the and allure of Prescott & Russell. Beshara’s expressive oil paintings and delicate watercolours capture the spirit\, stories\, and serenity of the countryside\, offering viewers a window into a world where time slows\, and nature reigns. From the kinetic energy of the heavy horse pull at local fairgrounds like Maxville & the Vankleek Hill to the tranquility of sheep basking in the golden light of an August day\, each piece intimately illustrates the extraordinary beauty of everyday moments in the countryside.
